How setup works

  1. See a demo

The Scout team walks through your book with you in a demo. Book a demo

  2. Texting registration starts

When you sign up, Scout's team registers your shop's Scout number with the phone carriers for business texting. Scout can't text until the carriers approve it, so this starts first.

  3. Fill in the intake form

A short form about your shop: services, service area, business hours, when Scout should answer, what counts as urgent, who gets urgent calls, and your team. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes and never asks for passwords.

  4. Setup call

On a call with Scout's team, someone with admin access connects your software to Scout, and you set your booking rules and phone setup together.

  5. Test, then go live

You make test calls together. Check each call in Scout. Check each booking in ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro, then remove the test jobs. On FieldEdge, check each booking request with your new leads, then remove the test requests. While you test, Scout's texts go only to a test phone, except when Scout is answering a customer who already texted in. Then Scout goes live.

Common setup questions

How long does setup take?

There's no fixed time. It depends on lining up admin access to your software, your phone setup and how many booking rules you set. Texting has to wait for the carriers' approval, which is why that registration starts the day you sign up.

Who in my shop needs to be involved?

The owner, for the decisions: when Scout answers, booking rules and who gets urgent calls. Someone with admin access to your software, for the setup call. And whoever manages your phones, to turn on forwarding.
